TRENTON CITY SOCKERS KICK OFF NEW YEAR IN FIRST PLACE

Trenton Sockers Men's Indoor Team won 6-0 over Royals on Wednesday Jan 11 to take over top spot in the BQMSL indoor league, as Brighton had earlier tied Colborne opening the opportunity for Sockers.  Sockers record now stands at 8 wins, 3 ties, 0 losses, with Gregur King top goalscorer.  Trenton Sockers have been led all indoor season by stellar keeping by Dan Woelber, by far the league's top keeper.  Dan has posted consecutive shutouts in 2012, as Sockers beat Hellenix 2-0 on Jan 4.

SOCKERS BEAT BRIGHTON IN MIRACLE ON FIELD TURF

In the last match of 2011, Sockers pulled off what is being called the miracle on field turf, v Brighton.  Trailing 3-1 with 2.5 minutes to go, and seeming generally un-interested in the match, Rudy Mouw scored Sockers second, and a goal mouth handball enabled Greg King to tie the match on a PK.  With 30 seconds left, some incredible passing led to Kinger scoring the winning goal, and setting up a huge post-match celebration as Sockers remained undefeated in shocking style.
